Janet Biehl: During the last twenty years of Murray Bookchin's life, I was his closest collaborator. I compiled and edited "The Murray Bookchin Reader" (1997) and wrote a summary of his political ideas called "The Politics of Social Ecology: Libertarian Municipalism" (1998). I also published two other books that advocate Bookchin's ideas, including "Rethinking Ecofeminist Politics" (1991) and "Ecofascism" (with Peter Staudenmaier, 1995). I am a copy editor by trade and edited all of Murray's writings starting in 1992. As Murray's companion, I was privy to his thoughts and to many discussions with him over the years. The experience was an immense privilege. He died in July 2006. As part of my grief process, I am currently at work on writing a memoir of my years with him. It will include cartoons, I hope to the point that it can be a graphic memoir.
